There are a lot of walking pads crowding the market right now. I’ve reviewed a few impressive ones, like the HccSport 3 in 1 Treadmill and the GoPlus 2 in 1, but most are poorly built, lack power, and last just a few months.

The Mobvoi Home Treadmill is one of the better ones out there. It’s by no means perfect, but at least it doesn’t suffer from poor build quality, and it’s made by a company that’s been around a while.

Mobvoi has great customer service. Many people praise how quick these guys are at sorting out issues with their treadmills, and that’s a good sign this company cares about its products and the people who buy them.

Also, the Mobvoi Home Treadmill has been around for a few years, and people still praise how well it works 2 years after purchase, so that’s an encouraging sign these treadmills are durable.

Whisper Quiet Motor

The first thing you’ll notice about this treadmill is how quiet it is. Even when jogging at around 6mph, it doesn’t go above 60DB, which is whisper quiet for a treadmill. This is great if you don’t want to disturb others with the sound of your workouts or if you live in an apartment and need to keep the noise down.

It must be a brushless motor, it doesn’t mention anywhere what type, but the brushless motors are much quieter than the brushed type. They also last 4 times longer. So a big thumbs up for the brushless motor.

The Mobvoi Home Treadmill SE is certainly a treadmill I want to take a closer look at. Today, we’ll look all its pros and drawbacks. Also, at the end of the review, I’ll make a quick comparison with the incline version of this treadmill. It costs a little more, but I think it’s worth it.

First a quick look at the Mobvoi SE product specs!

Why Do We Like The Mobvoi Home Treadmill?

As I mentioned, the build quality of this walking pad outshines most in this price bracket. It’s also made by a company that takes pride in its products, which is always a good thing.

Still whats going to sell this treadmill is its size, this is one of the most compact treadmills I’ve reviewed and I’ve being doing this for over 10 years. This is a small treadmill. It’s perfect for office use or anywhere in the house, like a bedroom.

It’s ultra-portable because of its size and light weight.

At only 55 pounds, this item is super easy to move from room to room. The handy built-in transport wheels allow you to tilt it on one end and roll it to store.

Folding Handrails

Something else you’re going to like are the foldable handrails. You have a choice: keep them folded and use the treadmill as a walking pad, or unfold them and use the treadmill for faster-paced cardio like jogging.

When folded, the speed ranges from 0.6mph to 3.8mph, perfect for walking, and when unfolded, the top speed increases to 7.8mph.

Also, I loved the little remote control, you can use the remote when the handrails are folded, and because it uses radio frequency, it doesn’t have to be pointed at the treadmill to work. A handy feature especially when using the walking pad under a desk.

Short Running Belt – Not Suitable For Everyone

The Mobvoi Treadmill has a few drawbacks, one of which is the short running belt. Because this treadmill is so compact, the length of the running belt suffers. All walking pads suffer from the same issue.

The running belt length is so important because it determines who can use this treadmill and for what purpose. The Mobvoi treadmill can only boast a 40″ belt, which means it cannot be used for running, and jogging is restricted to a user height of around 5’9″.

Taller users will still be able to use the Mobvoi Treadmill for walking. But not for faster-paced cardio.

Also, it’s a narrow running belt. With a width of just 16″.  If you’re someone who is used to jogging on treadmills in your local gym, it’s going to be a shock to transition over to narrow short belts.

Commercial treadmills in gyms use a 22″ x 60″ belts. It’s a big difference. So be careful when first using your Mobvoi Treadmill at home, as it’s very easy to step off the side of a narrow running belt, especially when jogging. It will take some getting used to.

mobvoi treadmill monitor and remote

Monitor With Remote and App

The first thing I noticed about the Mobvoi monitor was the lack of built in workout programs. Which is a shame as workout programs challenge you and keep you coming back to the treadmill. However, Mobvoi does have its own fitness app you can use with this treadmill.

You can access their app on a smartwatch or phone. Also, use your smartphone to download popular virtual running apps. All you have to do is stand near the Mobvoi Home Treadmill SE, open a virtual running app, and connect it to the treadmill.

It’s cool to have access to a few fitness apps as they help to take away the monotony of long cardio sessions and are an essential feature for a treadmill with no built-in workout programs.

You basically have two control consoles with the Mobvoi Home Treadmill. When the handrails are folded, you can use the remote to adjust speed and modes, and when you want to use the treadmill for jogging, and the handle is raised, you have a set of built-in buttons for speed, etc, built into the handrail.

Everything with the monitor and remote is easy to use. There is nothing complicated here.

2.5hp treadmill motor

Weight Capacity and Motor Power

A lot of manufacturers like to overestimate the weight capacity of fitness equipment, especially low-cost gear. So you need to be careful. The Mobvoi treadmill boasts a 265lb weight capacity. You need a powerful, heavy-duty motor to cope with a 265lb user jogging on a treadmill every day.

And the Mobvoi SE sadly doesn’t boast a heavy-duty treadmill motor. It’s a walking pad. It’s not a heavy-duty machine.

We need to be realistic with the weight capacities of low-cost treadmills because they just don’t have the power to cope with heavy weight.

The Mobvoi treadmill is equipped with a 2.5HP motor. This is still pretty good for the price point, but it is far from heavy duty.

A more realistic weight capacity for jogging on a Mobvoi treadmill with a 2.5HP motor would be 200lb. You don’t want to risk early motor burnout, so I recommend keeping well under the stated max capacity for this treadmill.

anti-shock system mobvoi treadmill

Anti-Shock System?

This is a $200 treadmill, so I wasn’t expecting to see a high-end anti-shock system.

And there isn’t really an anti-shock system as such installed on this treadmill. There’s no shock absorbers installed under the running belt, which is what you want. Still, there is some deck cushioning to protect your joints from the impact of each foot strike.

Mobvoi has used a multi-layer running belt that also includes a shock-absorbing pad. This is nothing to shout home about, and it will help protect your joints a little, but it’s not much. It’s the bare minimum a company could call an anti-shock system. Still, it’s better than nothing.

There’s No Incline

Again, for $200, I wouldn’t expect to find an incline feature with this running pad. Usually, you need to spend over $250 to find a manual incline.

Incline features are important because they add a lot to your workout sessions. You’ll double calorie burn jogging on an incline, and you’ll work those hard to train muscles like your glutes and calves.

There is a version of this treadmill that includes a 6% incline, which I’ll talk about at the end of this review. The only downside is that it costs about $80 more.

10 Minute Assembly

All the complicated parts of this treadmill come pre-assembled. There isn’t much to do once you’ve unboxed it. Just screw on the two folding arms, and that’s about it. Detailed instructions are included, and so are the tools needed for the job.

Something else you need to remember is to lubricate the belt before use. Most treadmills are lubricated at the factory, but sometimes they forget, so I always lubricate every treadmill before the first use just to be safe.  Then, every 3 months for medium use.

Check to see if the running belt is centered. If not, you need to center it.

Do I Need a Treadmill Mat?

Most light weight treadmills benefit from a treadmill mat. They don’t have enough weight to keep them firmly planted to the floor, and a treadmill helps prevent any movement. The Mobvoi treadmill weighs just 55lb, and the support feet tend to slip a little. So yes, if you have polished floors, you might want to consider a mat.

Another time a treadmill mat will come in handy is if you live in an apartment. Treadmill mats are great for soaking up the vibrations of your workouts, essential if you live in an apartment and want to keep the neighbors happy.

Also, treadmill mats will prevent scratches on polished floors.

Alternative

incline version of mobvoi treadmill

Mobvoi Home Treadmill 6% Incline

I was happy to see there’s an incline version of this treadmill, as an incline feature is so important. The incline is pretty good, it’s a 6% incline, more than enough for a small treadmill. It’s super easy to use, takes a few seconds to unfold, and then, when you’re finished with it, just fold it away.

The rest of this treadmill is very similar, if not identical, to the SE version. However, you do get a slightly larger belt, which is always a good thing. The more room, the better.

Is it worth the extra $90? Yes, if you love incline walking and jogging. You’ll tone and build your calves, glutes, and hamstrings, plus you’ll burn twice as many calories. I always recommend that when looking for a treadmill for home, you buy one with an incline as it adds so much more to your workout sessions.

The SE version is an excellent buy at $200, but if I were to choose a walking pad for myself, I’d always want an incline feature.

It depends on what you’re looking for from your cardio sessions and your budget.

To Sum Up

I was impressed with the Mobvoi SE Treadmill. It’s surprisingly well made for a $200 walking pad, and there are some pretty nice features. The handrails are useful and easy to fold when using the walking pad under a desk. I love how easy it is to move and store and how compact the design is. It really can fit into most spaces, even small offices.

And it’s quiet, which means it’s not going to disturb others.

The main drawback is the short running belt it will limit who can jog on this treadmill. And there’s no incline with the SE version of this treadmill.

As I’ve mentioned, the incline version is worth considering as it’s a very useful feature.

Overall, one of the best walking pads on the market right now, durable, affordable, easy to use, and compact.
