There are a lot of these low-cost dumbbell benches around at the moment. The market is flooded. I seem to be reviewing more and more of this type of workout bench every year. Is it a good thing? Well, yes and no.

The main issue with a lot of these cheap benches is stability. More than 50% of the low-cost benches I review have some level of wobble, which is not only off-putting but also dangerous.

So, yes, when paying less than $100 for a bench, you need to be careful because the quality from one bench to another can be huge.

The Teclor Weight Bench is another lightweight dumbbell bench, but thankfully, this thing is sturdy; the wide front and rear stabilizers really help keep it stable, and Teclor has fitted adjustable levellers on the end of the stabilizing feet. Adjustable levellers are a really handy feature as you can adjust them to keep your beach stable on an uneven floor.

It’s great that Teclor thought about the design of their bench, as stability is the most important thing to look for when buying any weight bench.

Full Fid Weight Bench For Under $100!

And it’s not just the sturdy build of the Teclor Weight Bench that makes me want to take a closer look at this bench, I love that it’s a full FID bench (flat, incline, and decline) for under $100. Finding a bench that offers flat, incline, and decline pressing options is impressive.

You have a well-made, low-cost bench that will work all areas of your chest. If adding muscle mass to your lower, mid, and upper pecs is important to you, a full FID bench is essential.

As little as 5 years ago, it was almost impossible to find a full FID bench for under $200, so it’s great to see a few companies offering such versatile weight benches for people on a budget. And best of all, the Teclor v=bench does feel cheap, it’s a well-made bench for the price point.

So far, I’m impressed with the Teclor bench; it’s certainly a bench I feel is worth some serious consideration. So, in today’s review, I want to take a much closer look at everything this bench has to offer, including its drawbacks, as there are a few.

Also, at the end of the review, I want to compare the Teclor Bench to another impressive dumbbell bench in the same price bracket, the Yagud Weight Bench, which has been a favorite of mine for a while. It will be interesting to see how these two match up.

Why Do We Like The Teclor Weight Bench?

The main issue that plagues a lot of the budget lightweight dumbbell benches is stability, but as I already mentioned in the intro, the Teclor Weight Bench is a surprisingly sturdy bench for the price. The stabilizing feet are wide, and you have the adjustable levellers to keep the bench stable on uneven floors.

Its not a heavy duty bench, so theres not really any weight that can help with stability, it weighs just 23lb, so the design of theese lightweight benches is more imporatant than ever, the wide feet and levellers really help make up for the lack weight and help keep this bench feeling stable even when lifitng heavy which is a good thing,  a big thumbs up from me.

High-Density Foam Padding

Something else I really like about the Teclor Bench is the padding, it’s not too soft that it causes stability issues, and it’s not too hard that it’s off-putting, it’s just the right thickness at 2.4″. Teclor has done well here with the padding and the hard-wearing upholstery.

Fast To Adjust, Ladder Adjustment System

The Teclor Bench impresses with its sturdy feel, the padding is great, it’s just the right firmness, but I think the best feature of the Teclor Weight Bench is its ladder adjustment system for the backpad.

So many of the cheap weight benches use pin pull type adjustment systems, which are slow to adjust, they can wobble under heavy weight, and the pins can snap, which is, of course, dangerous. This is why I always love to see a ladder adjustment system for the backpad, especially on budget benches.

A ladder adjustment system is fast to adjust, takes just a second, it’s much more stable under heavy weight, and you don’t have to worry about the pin snapping.

One Major Drawback – There’s No Adjustable Seat

One of the main drawbacks with most of the under $100 budget benches is that they lack an adjustable seat, which can be a problem, especially for people who take their training seriously.

The reason an adjustable seat is important is that it prevents your butt from slipping down the seat when the backpad is at an incline angle.

An adjustable seat provides a stable base to press from, and a stable base is crucial as you’ll generate more power. Most importantly, it helps you maintain correct form throughout the movement.

Is the lack of an adjustable seat a deal killer? It depends on your training schedule. If you’re serious about adding muscle mass to all areas of your pecs, then yes, a lack of an adjustable seat could be a deal breaker.

But if you’re a beginner or just someone who’s training with light dumbbells, then performing flat bench presses with dumbbells will be fine for the first 6 months until you feel ready to take your training to the next level.

However, some impressive, low-cost adjustable benches come with adjustable seats. The Lusper Weight Bench is one I’d recommend, and it only costs $20 more than the Teclor.

Can The Teclor Weight Bench Handle 700lb?

What you need to remember here is that the Teclor Weight Bench is a low-cost, lightweight bench aimed at beginners. It’s a long way from heavy duty. Don’t expect a heavy-duty bench to arrive on your doorstep.

The Teclor bench doesn’t boast commercial grade welds, and this thing weighs just 23lb. There isn’t much to it. So while some of these companies love to boast that their benches can handle huge amounts of weight, in reality, they just can’t.

I doubt very much the Teclor weight bench could take 700lb of weight on a daily basis, I doubt it would last a week.

A more realistic weight capacity for a 23lb budget weight bench would be 250lb user weight and 250lb lifted weight, which gives you a combined max capacity of 500lb,  more than enough for most people’s needs. I certainly wouldn’t risk taking a bench like the Teclor over 500lb.

Storage and Assembly

One of the selling points of the Teclor Bench is how easy this bench is to store, you can fold it in just 5 seconds, and you’ll reduce its overall footprint by more than half. All you have to do is remove a couple of pins, fold, and store it against a wall.

Assembly is a breeze too as the bench is delivered 90% assmbled. Once unboxed all you’ll need to do is tighten the two screws, insert the two safety pins and foam roller. Takes no more than 5 minutes.

The Good

Sturdy for the price point – the adjustable levellers really help keep this bench stable on uneven floors

10 position ladder adjustment system – fast to adjust

Excellent padding just the right thickness, and not too soft or too firm

Folds for storage

Full FID weight bench for under $100 (flat, incline, decline)

Easy to assemble (5 minutes)

The Bad

Lacks an adjustable seat for support when incline pressing

Gap between, seat and backpad is quite wide, might be off-putting for some people

Only 6 month warranty on the upholstery

Alternative

Yagud Adjustable Weight Bench

The Yagud Weight Bench is another low-cost dumbbell bench aimed at beginners, and just like the Teclor bench, it’s a long way from being heavy-duty, which you’d expect at this price. The Yagud Bench carries the same price tag as the Teclor Bench.

The reason I like the Yagud Weight Bench is that, just like the Teclor Weight Bench, it’s well-made, which is rare for a $70 weight bench.

Also, just like the Teclor Bench, it’s sturdy, there’s no annoying wobble thanks to the wide stabilizing feet and adjustable levellers. It really is a very similar bench to the Teclor Weight Bench.

Still, there are a few differences. I prefer the padding on the Teclor Weight Bench, it’s slightly thicker and firmer, which is better for bench pressing. The Yugud padding isn’t bad; it feels good,  it’s just a little softer than the Teclor bench padding. Also, it’s only 1.5″ thick compared to the Teclor’s 2.4″.

However, the Yagud Weight Bench outperforms the Teclor Weight Bench in terms of the correct and most useful backpad angles. The Yagud weight bench features the correct angle for a seated shoulder press, boasting an 85-degree angle, which is a great find on a budget bench. It shows these guys know what they’re doing.

And we have the ladder adjustment system, which is also excellent to see.

Really, it’s hard to choose between these two benches. Both are very similar, both have sturdy builds, both weigh the same, both include the all-important ladder adjustment system, both are Full FID benches, and both share the same price tags.

The only difference is that one has better padding, and one includes more desirable backpad angles. And both lack an adjustble seat, which is to be expected.

However, out of all of the other low-cost dumbbell benches I’ve reviewed with similar price tags, these two are at the top of the list. Whichever one you choose for the price, you can’t go wrong.

If you’re a little more serious about your training, spend the extra $20 and grab the Lusper adjustable bench, which is most definitely the best adjustable weight bench right now under $100.

To Sum Up

The Teclor Bench didn’t disappoint. For $70, you’re getting a sturdy, versatile FID dumbbell bench. Yeah, it’s a lightweight beginner bench, but it’s a decent one. And a great choice for a first bench, you can always upgrade in 6 months and get something a little more heavy duty.

There was nothing I could really find fault with, I would have liked to have seen an 80 or 85 degree backpad angle for seated shoulder presses, but it’s not a deal killer as you still have the full 90 degrees.

I really liked the padding on the Teclor Bench and the ladder adjustment system, these guys thought about the design, and it shows. Yes, there’s no adjustable seat, but at this price, it’s to be expected. Overall, I was impressed with the Teclor Dumbbell Bench.
